My Story

My name is Hayley, and I’m an experienced teacher originally from Droitwich, United Kingdom. In 2018, I made the decision to relocate to Australia. It was a move that has shaped both my personal and professional life in the most rewarding ways.

Prior to emigrating, I completed a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in the UK. I began my teaching career in 2010 and, like many others considering the move, found the transition to teaching in Australia to be both exciting and challenging. Navigating visa requirements, teacher registration, unfamiliar terminology, and understanding a new school system presented a steep learning curve.

Since moving to Victoria, I have gained extensive experience across the education sector including in primary and secondary settings, state and private schools, and as a Casual Relief Teacher (CRT). I am now an Assistant Principal at a secondary school and have a deep understanding of what it takes to build a successful teaching career in Australia.

Throughout my journey, I have supported many UK-trained teachers as they navigated their own move to Australia. I created Teach in Oz to offer practical, experience-based support to others going through this process. My aim is to provide clarity, encouragement, and the kind of insight that only comes from having done it myself.

Through 1:1 mentorship sessions and tailored resources, I guide teachers through every step — from registration and paperwork to job applications and settling into the classroom.

If you’re preparing to make the move or simply exploring the idea, I would be pleased to support you.

Mentorship Programme

Moving to Australia to teach is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Each of the mentorship programmes was designed because I’ve been in your shoes. From navigating visas to securing teacher registration, I remember thinking I had to use a migration agent. But the truth is, much of it is doable without one, you just need the right guidance.

That’s where I come in. These 1:1 mentorships are designed to walk you through key steps in your journey with clear explanations, personal insights, and helpful resources. Each session is around 90 minutes and costs $150 AUD.

All resources we cover during the session will be emailed to you afterwards for easy reference.

Please note: I’m based in Australia and work full-time in a school, so I offer sessions either early in the morning or late at night to accommodate time zones. I’ll always do my best to work around your availability!
